Turner Classic Movies has announced the twenty U.S. cities that have been selected as hosts for FREE national screenings of Michael Curtiz’s CASABLANCA (1942) on Tuesday, March 4 in celebration of the channel’s 20th anniversary. Ten were chosen by TCM, and ten were selected (at least in part) by fans during three weeks of national voting on the TCM website. TCM says that more than 10,000 fans around the country voted, which is pretty good for a country in which only half the people vote to elect a president.
If you’re lucky enough to live in one of the following places, you’ll be looking at one of the most beloved films of all time on the big screen, kid (cities in bold were selected by fan voting). If not, you’ll always have Paris.

UPDATE 2/18/14 5:20 PM (ET)
According to a TCM spokesperson, CASABLANCA will screen in DCP (digital projection) in all 20 cities.
Am I surprised that the closest city to my home is over 5 hours away? Not at all. Am I bummed I cannot participate in this event? HELLZYEAH! #FlyOverStateBlues
I hear you, Kellee. The only thing I can say is, in past years, TCM visited only 10 cities with the Road to Hollywood series before TCMFF. http://www.tcm.com/2013/roadtohollywood/
This year they’re upping that number to 20 cities. That’s a step in the right direction.
Got my tix for the San Francisco screening- thanks for the reminder, Will!
Glad to hear it!
Pingback: UPDATE #2: You Pick the Cities for TCM’s Nationwide Screenings of CASABLANCA | cinematically insane
I saw Casablanca on the big screen in 2011 and it was magnificent! It made me fall in love with the film even more xx
So how early should we arrive to get in? How many passes do they give out for how many seats? We have passes for the NYC showing and we would like to come into the city, meet a friend for dinner (she also got a pass) and then see the film.
Tom – I would arrive at least 30 minutes early to insure entry, and seating in a decent seat.
Thanks! We will be looking for you. 🙂
I’m shocked – shocked! – to see how many cities are sold out already.
(Ha ha – couldn’t resist.)
